1 DAY TOUR - Quintessentially Kent
This one day tour in East Kent is aimed specifically at visitors looking to get an insight into what is uniquely British and quintessentially Kent - its beautiful countryside, historic castles and iconic coastline. This includes visiting the White Cliffs of Dover, medieval Canterbury, and some of the most stunning scenery and villages in the country.
DOVER
White Cliffs & Capel-Le-Ferne
Your guide will meet you at the Port of Dover as you exit the cruise ship terminal. You will be driven in a comfortable air conditioned vehicle to the Battle of Britain Memorial along the White Cliffs. Here you will learn from an expert about how RAF pilots - known as Churchill's 'Few' - saved the nation from Nazi invasion in 1940 over this very location. If we are lucky, we might even experience the evocative sights and sounds of a Spitfire flying overhead (sometimes culminating in a victory roll!)
BARHAM & SURROUNDING VILLAGES
You will then be driven through a number of picturesque villages in the Kentish Downs, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These wooded valleys, vineyards and Norman churches provide a stunning backdrop for photos should you wish to stop.
CANTERBURY
You will then be taken to the UNESCO world heritage city of Canterbury. Here you will have the chance to explore its quaint cobbled streets, view historic sites such as the Cathedral, as well as its delightful riverside cafes and bars.
WICKHAMBREAUX, ICKHAM & WINGHAM
As we leave Canterbury and pass by the remains of St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin’s church, you will be taken to the charming picture-perfect village of Wickhambreaux with its church, country pub and charming village green. Here you can stop for a glass of fine Kentish wine or beer as you admire the beauty of this uniquely British scene.
FINGLESHAM & DEAL
As we head back towards the coast through the delightful villages of Ickham and Wingham, you can stop for selfies at the village of Finglesham with its unwittingly entertaining road signs pointing in the direction of Ham and Sandwich - always a favourite for X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram! Our penultimate stop will be at the coastal town of Deal with its Tudor castle, lengthy pier which stretches into the English Channel, and narrow streets and homes which tell the centuries old tales of smugglers, shipwrecks and contraband. Finally you will then be taken back to Dover from where your tour began.
